BBC RADIO CAMPAIGN POSTER SERIES 2nd Semester | Design Principles | Andrea Rubow Me and Lisa Schubert worked on this project together. We approached the task with the intention do craft something with our hands instead of working with the computer. We soon found paper stripes very adequate for our poster series. The paper stripes cast a shadow on the white background in the color of the stripe. Different gradients of colors emerge depending on the different angles light hits the poster, just as music is perceived differently in different surroundings.
We then took a photo and plotted it onto an A1 poster. We also animated a short clip for the radio station: JAZZ MUSIC

PRINTING MATTERS POSTER & INVITATION FOR EXHIBITION 3rd Semester | Design Initiative | Prof. Katja Davar Inspired by the styles of old masters – just as Albrecht Dürer and Lucas Cranach – students of the Hochschule Mainz created etchings / copper engravings in their own way. The results of Katja Davar's project and Design Initiative »Printing Matters« were exhibited at the Grafik-Kabinett Backnang in 2014. The invitation just as the poster I designed for the exhibition was selected best amongst the other 12 designs. I placed great emphasize on the relation between the used materials of copper and ink by combining the black and white images of the exhibition with the copperish color (PANTONE 876) in my designs. The array of the picture fragments reflect crystal form native copper.

BESPOKE MAGAZINE 23 x 29,7cm 2nd Semester | Typography | Prof. Ulysses Voelker As designers we have to learn, how to create good design and how to recognize it. With my BESPOKE magazine I'm documenting the results of the analysis of different design magazines and styles. Divided in mainstream, contemporary and swiss typography it's showing different stylistic devices used to fulfill certain criteria.
Next to the analysis the magazine contains discussions with my classmates about recent economical, social and technical issues, such as the Greek government-debt crisis or the breakthrough of flat design.

MINIMAL MUSIC CORPORATE IDENTITY 4th Semester | Corporate Identity | Siri Poarangan Just as Minimal Art we resort to geometrical ground forms to visualize the music genre. No other shape is more suitable when it comes to accumulation than the cube. However most important about the music is not the conceptual idea of reputation and modification – it's the ever-present, barely perceptible change on all layers of the music structure. To emphasize our assumption we created a dynamic logo and show how single parameter can become one big entity.
Me and my fellow student Natalie Kässmann illustrated these characteristics with our Minimal Music Corporate Identity.

INTERNATIONAL FILM WEEK MAINZ Concept and Design 2nd Semester | Personal Case Prof. Sylvie Pagé (HS Mainz) – one of the three initiators of the International Film Week – offered me the opportunity to develop a concept and the design for the project. The brief was to develop a look that connects the young students from Mainz and the ones from their partner Universities in Jerusalem, Valencia and Tel Aviv. I wanted the look and feel to be as contrasty as the films that were shown. The poster shows a student escaping from a white frame / crossing a border, which implies the internationality of the Film Week. The white rectangle runs like a common thread through the event.
There photos show the »Get-Together« before the films, the theatre itself and Prof. Sylvie Pagé opening the Film Week.

REPORTAGE PHOTOGRAPHY SHOT WITH : MINOLTA X700

2nd Semester | Photography | Prof. Stefan Enders

Mainz is a city that offers many educational facilities for creative students such as the Musical Arts Academy.

We were asked to portray a person of our interest and create a 10 piece reportage photography limited on one day.
I accompanied a  boy and documented his struggle to fulfill his dream of becoming a professional musical artist.

Musical Arts has achieved a reputation throughout the dance and musical world for the superior quality of its education and artistic training. Under the artistic direction of Björn Breckheimer Musical Arts aims to create true contemporary dancers – trained equally in classical ballet, jazz, tapdance, and modern dance.

STAMP »STOP THE TRAFFIK« PRINTED ON POSTCARD 2nd Semester | Fine Art | Prof. Kirstin Arndt Design a stamp that reflects a current political or social case: People are bought and sold for sexual exploitation, forced labour, street crime, domestic servitude or even the sale of organs and human sacrifice. Men, women and children are trafficked within their own countries and across international borders. Just as these people, you can rip the stamps (their faces) out of the card and send them around the globe. Or you can »stop the traffik«. Inspired by YouTube video: Girls going wild in red light district

WALLPAPER 450° PRINTED ON PAPER 60 g/m² 3rd Semester | Fine Art | Prof. Kirstin Arndt When I think of wallpapers first my Grandmothers house – which was covered with flowered, striped and patterned wallpapers – come to my mind. Probably a little traumatized by the late 60s chique I tried to do the impossible by considering this work more as a wall art than a wallpaper. I tried to transfer the concept of impossibility to my design by changing the way of papering the room. Instead of the traditional repeat you can choose a random angle and glue the first piece of wallpaper onto the wall. Now try to match the first and second stripe and so one.

WINE LABEL »ERESSOINOS« PRINTED ON PAPER 12,5 x 8cm 4th Semester | Personal Case Axel Schmitt approached me to create a unique illustration for their new up and coming wine called Eressoinos which is named after the small town Eressos in Greece where the vineyard is located. My work intends to highlight the importance of the land and the vine as a plant. I was given the opportunity to design three labels. The stipple hand-drawing shows the vineyards of the family as the representative image for the place itself. The dots are dawn just as carefully as every single grape is harvested,

MUSICAL ARTS REBRANDING 3rd Semester | Corporate Identity | Prof. Kerstin Amend After I accompanied Tobias Sellinger for a day at the Musical Arts Academy to shoot a documentary about his struggle of becoming a professional musical artist I realized the facility's appearance does not fit with their academic philosophy. It was outdated and dreary. A musical career is divided in three division: Acting, Dancing and Singing. For that reason I chose the triangle as a consistent stylistic element that re-appears in different shapes on different elements.
